  • In 2010, 25 percent of U.S. East Coast imports from the India Subcontinent went to states where Savannah held a "least cost advantage" over other U.S. East Coast ports.

  • Retail Goods, Rugs/Sheets/Towels, and Apparel accounted for 37% of the imports between Savannah and India, supplying inventory to retailers such as Wal-Mart, Target, JC Penney, and Pier I Imports.
  • With the addition of Container Berths 8 and 9, as well as $1.025 billion in planned improvements, Savannah is the best-positioned port to provide the additional vessel and terminal capacity required for projected U.S. East Coast-India trade growth.
