India and the Port of Savannah
"I have found the Georgia Ports Authority’s operation in Savannah to be without equal on the U.S. East Coast. I am very interested in the progression of the discussions related to this trade lane..."

  • In 2007, 23 percent of U.S. East Coast imports from India went to states where Savannah held a "least cost advantage" over other U.S. East Coast ports.

  • Textile imports between Savannah and India increased 163 percent in 2007, supplying inventory to retailers such as Wal-Mart, Target, and Pier I Imports.

  • With the addition of Container Berths 8 and 9, as well as $1.025 billion in planned improvements, Savannah is the best-positioned port to provide the additional vessel and terminal capacity required for projected U.S. East Coast-India trade growth.
